York: NHS Trust stages annual 10k run in Knavesmire

The Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys (TEWV) NHS Foundation Trust 10k saw over 300 hundred people run, jog and walk around Knavesmire in York Racecourse.

There was also a new 1 mile TEWV fun run with participants from the age of three being treated to an Easter egg at the finish line.

TEWV provides the mental health care in York, North Yorkshire, County Durham, Darlington and Teesside.

Emma Brookshaw, race director and a modern matron at the Trust, said: “Our second TEWV 10k run was another great day – with hundreds of people crossing the finish line, some raising much needed funds for their chosen charity.

“We believe we are the first NHS Trust to organise a running event in the region, and possibly the country, and we are proud to bring this event to York.”

The first male over the finish line was Matthew Hirst from Selby Striders, who finished in 36 minutes and 30 seconds.

Helen Gavin was the 10k’s first female in 43 minutes and 4 seconds.
