The founder of a nationwide chain of curry houses has died aged 56.
Shabir Hussain opened the first Akbar’s restaurant in Bradford in 1995, before later expanding to cities including Leeds, Sheffield, Manchester, Newcastle and Glasgow.
Following the announcement of his death, Akbar’s said all its restaurants would be closed on Wednesday and Thursday as a result.
The chain said: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Shabir Hussain, founder of Akbars Restaurant Group.
