Huddersfield Town were beaten at Harrogate Town
Huddersfield Town defender Sean Roughan has urged his side to remain upbeat following Tuesday’s 1-0 defeat at Harrogate Town in the EFL Trophy.
The Terriers suffered their first loss of this season’s group stage in midweek, with Ellis Taylor’s early goal giving the League Two outfit the win.
The visitors pushed to find a route back into the game in the second half in particular of the clash at the Exercise Stadium, with Town going on to register 25 shots in total, but they couldn’t find a leveller.
The result leaves Town second in Northern Group F, on three points from two matches played, while Harrogate moved onto six points with their win.
Reflecting on Tuesday’s defeat, Roughan, whose side host Stockport County next up in League One on Saturday, told HTTV: “It’s one of those ones where we’ve conceded a goal, and they’ve gone and sat back. We had chances to at least draw it and score a goal, but just couldn’t take it.
“We can’t get ourselves down. We’ve got to look at it, and try and take the positives from it, because I thought we did get chances and we were in the right areas, it’s just about finding the back of the net, and that’s what football is, and they did that.
“I’m a person that doesn’t like to lose, and I’m sure a lot of lads in there don’t want to lose. It’s frustrating no matter what it is, in day-to-day life or it’s football, especially football I hate losing.
“It’s not like any of the lads haven’t run, because every single one of us out there tried and tried, but we just couldn’t find that end product.
“Any trophy that we’re in, we want to win no matter what. We’re not here to just put out a team, we’re here to win it, and that’s what we want to do.
“Probably the carrot at the end is playing at Wembley. I haven’t done that, and I want to do it, so to be able to go there at the end of the season and play there would be a good moment in your career.
“We still have a game to go, and we can’t put our heads down now, because we need to win that, and we’re going to go out and try our hardest to win it.”
