North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service say they were called at 5.53pm on Sunday (August 24) after reports of an incident at St Nicholas Cliff, Scarborough.
A service spokesperson said: “A crew from Scarborough responded to a report of persons who had become stuck in a lift.
“Crews used small tools and lift keys to release two persons.
“The lift was isolated by the on site responsible person and they were left awaiting a lift engineer.”
