This season will consist of 10 league fixtures, with each team playing the other once, plus one extra game. The winners of the league stage will be declared champions as there are no play-offs this season.
The Super Over which has been in play for the past few seasons has been abandoned, and there will also be a cup competition for the Powell Trophy which will conclude with a final at Crayke in early August.
The opening round of fixtures saw five games completed, with wins for Acomb, Clifton Alliance, Newburgh, Sessay and Thirsk.
Reigning champions Acomb got off to a winning start when they entertained Dringhouses.
The visitors performed well to reach 129 for 5 with A Khalid making 70 and Darren Avey 25.
But 29 from Aidan Burton and 32 from Will White took Acomb to 130 for 6 despite the efforts of B Johnson, who took 2 for 20 for Dringhouses.
Clifton Alliance batted first when they entertained Alne.
George Breheney gave their innings impetus with 33 from 20 balls, but Fin Furby’s 4 for 19 kept Alne in contention as Alliance closed on 93 for 8.
Cameron Spence (21) and Daniel Hunt (20) gave the Alne reply a promising start, but it fell away against Bryn Llewellyn (2 for 2) and Oliver Hart (2 for 8) and in the end Clifton won comfortably as Alne closed on 70 for 6.
Newburgh were put in to bat at Crayke where Tommy Banks made 26, and Lewis Medley had reached 45 not out when they closed on 123 for 3.
The Crayke reply reached 37 before wickets began to fall, Ferdi Rex taking 3 for 12 before Isla Banks took 3 for 11 in 3 overs.
Their innings concluded at 87 all out when C Maslin claimed 2 for 17, Lewis Dawson having resisted well for Crayke with 17 not out.
Madawa Warnapura was the outstanding performer when Sessay won at Easingwold.
He made 60 of Sessay’s 116 for 7, support coming from Paul Flintoff with 27, then took 3 for 1 as Easingwold were all out for 87.
Max Ingram showed up well for the hosts with 30, whilst Alex Lees returned 2 for 26 for Sessay.
Helperby batted first when they took on Thirsk.
Tom Messenger made 24 and Peter Hambling and Alex Clayton each made 25 as they posted 115 for 5, however N Bell’s unbeaten 50 took Thirsk to victory at 118 for 3 with more than three overs to spare, meaning Will Sowray’s 2 for 25 was in a losing cause.
