City of York Council said the resurfacing work in the Heworth Green area will take place from 7pm to 2am on weekdays between Monday, July 7, and Monday, July 14.
It will see the roads surrounding the Heworth Green roundabout, as well as the roundabout itself, close overnight.
The roads include the 1036 Heworth Green and adjoining parts of Malton Road, Stockton Lane, Heworth Road, Malton Avenue and Eastern Terrace.
Bus services will be diverted from Layerthorpe along East Parade, continuing to Hempland Lane then Woodlands Grove and Straylands Grove.
But the Labour councillor said the condition of roads and footpaths is a “high resident priority”, adding: “This is positive news and responds to our calls to prioritise those roads in the worst condition for improvement works, including those in Heworth.”
Fellow Heworth ward councillor Bob Webb added: “When improvements like this are carried out there has to be some disruption to reap the benefits but we’re obviously keen that disruption is minimised.
“As a key travel route in and out of the city, it’s great to see these works going ahead.
“We have the biggest highways repairs budget ever this year and look forward to seeing even more repairs taking place across the city in the coming months.”
