A spokesperson for the museum said: “We’re only half-way through the day and we’ve had many hundreds of people in already to see this rally.
“It’s a great addition to the museum’s fabulous summer roster of events.
“Already this month, we’ve had the 40th anniversary celebrations and the flying display, and later this week is Victor Day where we’re unveiling the camouflage colours of the Victors, accompanied by talks, videos and an engine run of that aircraft.
“The Military Vehicle Rally is another part of the package of offers that we have for visitors across the summer.

The Museum spokesperson said families are always a massive part of the audience, adding that in addition to dozens of aircraft on site, there’s also the site itself.
The former RAF Elvington houses buildings and displays, woodland walks and playgrounds.
The spokesperson said: “This year we’re celebrating our 40th anniversary – our slogan is ‘celebrating the past, securing the future’, and this is all part of that.
“It’s all about looking forward to how we can grow our audiences and develop the museum for the next 40 years.”
Paying tribute to members of the Military Vehicle Trust who helped the YAA stage this event, the spokesperson said they show a similar level of dedication looking after the vehicles as it does in looking after the aircraft in its care.
The spokesperson said: “People who are interested in engineering and science but also the history and the stories behind these vehicles.
“We speak of ‘amazing machines, incredible stories’ here at the museum and I think it’s a similar story with them – it’s about the people that designed, built and operated these vehicles.”
