Fadera and Olley are the only two York players to have missed any minutes this season through injury, with the latter not playing competitive football for a year after suffering a broken leg at previous club Gateshead.
Fadera on the other hand had picked up minutes in pre-season and impressed, but an abdominal strain in the build-up to the opening day draw with Sutton has kept him ruled out.
First-team coach Cam Morrison has confirmed that the club will host a behind-closed-doors friendly to help both Olley and Fadera gain match sharpness, which also presents an opportunity to out-of-favour players such as Dan Batty, Marvin Armstrong, Ricky Aguiar and Paddy McLaughlin.
“In terms of injuries, there are no updates in that aspect,” Morrison positively confirmed.
“In terms of players, everyone has come through it fine and there’s no update from us on the injured boys.
“Mo Fadera is still a couple of weeks away, and Greg Olley is the same situation, we just need to get him a game in a week or two.
“He could probably be ready in a week or so to feature, but he probably needs 20 minutes to half an hour to bed him in, and you never know how games are going.
“We’ll try to get him a game behind-closed-doors for him and those lads that haven’t been featuring in the matchday squad.
“It’s about keeping them ticking over so when they are needed, they’ve had a couple of games.
“We can embed the youth team as well, we’ll see how that looks, we’ve got to finalise a few bits.”
Batty is one of the out-of-favour players that appears to be on the fringe of breaking into Adam Hinshelwood’s squad, having travelled down to both Truro City and Southend United as an extra body, should City suffer any injuries in pre-match warm-ups.
That’s not happened, and despite being made to travel and not play football, Batty’s attitude hasn’t changed with Morrison praising the professionalism of the midfielder.
“That’s Dan as an individual, he’s an excellent pro,” Morrison credited.
“He hasn’t changed from last year when he featured a little bit more at the start of the season compared to now, but in terms of his attitude and application, he’s been second to none.
“It’s the same with some of the other lads too, but I think it’s about trying to get the message across that even they’re really frustrated that they’re not been playing, there’s so many games in this league and your cup competitions, they know how important the squad is.
“That’s something that we have really emphasised from the start of the season and pre-season, how important the squad is.
“Their time will come, as long as they keep training hard and make sure that when their chance does come, they are fit and ready to take their opportunity.
“It’s such a big amount of games, and with the big amount of travelling, their time will come.
“When it does, they’ve just got to take their opportunity.”
