In order to celebrate the efforts of the amazing local business owners that we have in York and North Yorkshire, The Press has launched a new competition which will crown the area’s ‘Best Hairdresser 2025’.
Last Monday, The Press launched the competition and invited readers to put forward their nominations.

After the voting closed on February 9, the 10 finalists with the most nominations were selected.
From next week until March 1, each of the 10 finalists will be featured in The Press newspaper along a voting slip and why they say they deserve to be voted your number one.
All votes will then be counted, with the winner set to be announced around March 10.
The finalists (in alphabetical order) are as follows:

- The Styling Room Hair Design
Press editor Nigel Burton said at the time that nominations opened: “York is a city full of talented hairdressers who do an incredible job in making people feel good about themselves.
“That’s why The Press is delighted to launch this competition so we can recognise the best ones in our communities. We’ll be bringing you updates on the hairdressers in our competition, so keep an eye out and see if your favourite is featured.”
Readers are asked to keep an eye on the paper to read the stories and decide their winner.
