The York City responded to calls for new additions after Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Braintree Town, remaining intent on protecting his players and not causing any unnecessary disruption to his squad.
Hinshelwood’s view on the matter remains the same, confirming that there is ‘nothing’ at this current stage – with the transfer window slamming shut on Thursday.
However, Hinshelwood confirmed that he and Director of Football Tony McMahon have built a contingency list of players that are available should York opt to build upon their squad, but the City boss reaffirmed that any signings had to have an immediate impact on the squad, with eight matches of the normal season remaining.
“There’s nothing at this sort of stage,” Hinshelwood told BBC York.
“Macca [McMahon] has got a list of players that we can go and get, he’s spoke to clubs already that are putting players his way and are ready to go.
“It’s a conversation to have, but at the same time [we] respect the players that we have got in the building as well and respect the clubs decision.
“We might feel budget wise that we’re not quite ready to bring any more players in and we need to respect that decision as well.”
The current budget is also a factor that is on Hinshelwood’s mind, with the City boss wary of remaining sustainable with the season approaching its end.
Hinshelwood admitted that it was something of a ‘juggling act’ in determining the shape up of his squad, explaining how the budget could have its affect on any new additions.
The manager continued: “It’s a real sort of juggling act, we’ve got a squad of players that are fit and healthy and have worked hard all season.
“If we bring someone in, are they going to have that same hunger and drive that this group has got to try and get you out of the league as well?
“It’s getting the balance of it all right, and at the same time if we bring another player in it’s more expense potentially.
“Then we’re leaving out someone who is picking up a good wage as well, it’s about trying to get all of that right and doing what’s best for the club to ultimately achieve our goal of getting into the Football League.”
Hinshelwood also revealed what he would want from a new signing, explaining: “Players that are going to come in and impact the starting 11.
“Whether that’s something different to what we’ve got or whether it’s a player we feel is of better quality than what we’ve got in, and can really impact the squad.
“I don’t think there is any point bringing players in now that aren’t going to be impacting the starting 11.”
