Adam Hinshelwood will lead his players around the LNER Community Stadium following the full-time whistle of Saturday’s game against Solihull Moors (3pm), to show recognition to supporters in the final home match of the normal league season.
Hinshelwood has also given his players the opportunity to invite their families onto the pitch to recognise the sacrifice that they have made alongside the players, with the York manager admitting that he had put them through their paces throughout the season.
“We’re going to get the families, it’s important because it has been a successful campaign and is only the second time that we have got this points tally ever in the club’s history,” Hinshelwood explained.
“That does need to be celebrated and we do want to thank the supporters.
“The families, all of their sacrifice and times away, I’ve had the lads in on Christmas Day and Easter Sunday this year.
“All of that sacrifice that the players have spent, it’s important that the families come and show their appreciation to the fans as well.”
Hinshelwood also wanted to address supporters for their backing throughout the season, in a campaign which has seen City guarantee a top two finish, despite only surviving on the final day of the Vanarama National League season for the past two years.
He stated: “I hope that they know how much I appreciate every last one of them and all of the support that they have given this season.
“The turnouts that we’ve had, not just at Halifax, Gateshead, Barnet, we’ve not always sent them away happy.
“More often than not it has been a good season and I am so grateful.
“I don’t feel like I need to go onto a microphone and tell them how much I appreciate them, I hope that they know.”
