Ian McManaman, Mack and Lawler, director said: “We are pleased that as a local business Mack and Lawler can support such an amazing event.
“It’s such a worthwhile cause and we’re proud that we can help these incredible charities who are directly helping those in need in our local community.’’
Seth Sowerby, trust chairperson, said: “York City Supporters Trust are proud to partner with York City Foundation to sponsor the York Charity Sleepout.
“This event makes a real difference in our community, and supporting it aligns with our commitment to making a positive impact beyond the football pitch. Together, we stand united in raising awareness and vital funds to tackle homelessness and support those in need within our city.”
This year the York Charity Sleepout is set to take place on Thursday, May 1 from 7pm onwards.
Two previous sleepouts, have raised almost £60,000 combined, for a range of charities across York as well as providing a vital opportunity to raise awareness of their much needed work.
This years chosen charities are: Safe and Sound Homes (SASH), York City Foundation, Restore York and Kitchen for Everyone York, all who work at the frontline of hunger, disadvantage, and homelessness across York.
York City Football Club Foundation manager Paula Stainton said the foundation and the team at SASH have organised the event and people just need to turn up for the night with no set amount needed to be raised. The event is only for adults over 18.
“All you need is a sleeping bag and a few other items – a large piece of cardboard and pillow, several layers of warm clothing and our top tip… earplugs!
“For anyone walking around the city of York, it’s clear to see that homelessness is an increasing problem in our community.
“It’s very prevalent on the streets of our beautiful city and there are countless hidden homeless issues, from those who are sofa surfing or young people who feel they cannot stay at home,” said Paula.
“Part of what York City Foundation does, is to work to make a real difference in the community and campaign for change.
“Helping to tackle homelessness and support disadvantaged families in our area, is something they really care about and have joined up with the team at SASH this year, to ensure that every penny fundraised for York goes to the people of York.”
