SO now Gordon Campbell Thomas is “project advisor” to the self appointed group GWE (Ghost of William Etty) that none of us had ever heard of until the one man street protest arrived in Goodramgate with his own crude cardboard sign. Funnily enough on a day when the Old York Tea shop was closed!
Exactly what professional qualifications does Mr Campbell Thomas have for commenting on urban design issues?
And why wasn’t he seen protesting the desecration of Grade-I York Minster with completely alien solar roof panels?
Or the eyesore of ugly intrusive shipping containers at 17-21 Piccadilly in the historic core Conservation Area?
It seems Mr Campbell Thomas is strangely selective with his opprobrium.

Tory home secretaries have lot to answer for
YET again Chris Philp for the Conservative Party is caught jumping on a bandwagon asking questions about the Southport murders.
For the record, therefore, I shall answer Chris Philp’s latest query by answering one simple question of my own, namely, who were the home secretaries when the Southport murderer was ignored by Prevent?
They were Priti Patel, Suella Braverman, Grant Shapps and James Cleverly.
Everyone a Tory Home Secretary under a Tory government!
What did they do? Nothing!

Expect misery unfolding in times to come
I HAVE just watched the awe-inspiring film Bob Dylan, A Complete Unknown. Frankly I was spellbound and it made me come out of the theatre singing his songs!
As a young kid he inspired me to pick up a guitar and create my own songs – and as the only one-armed guitarist in York to engage with the folk and rock n roll scene of the 60s into 70s.
We sang of change and times they were a changing.
Have we failed with that dream of protecting our planet, with the now President Trump, who is hell bent on reversing our fragile future back into a fossil guzzling Armageddon abyss?
Once that precarious tipping point of planet warming is overturned, we venture into unknown global temperature surges.
Scientists’ predictions could warn us of these events but expect misery unfolding in times to come.

America set to prosper under Trump
TO date, PM Starmer has shown himself to be totally clueless on how to create growth to enable the country to prosper, therefore, I suggest he and Rachel from Accounts read President Trump’s inaugural speech and select the parts that could be adapted over here, especially his references to energy and gender.
For example, if we had a minister for energy with his ideas instead of Miliband we could look forward to an abundance of oil and gas for generations to come at affordable cheap prices, an end also to expensive fantasy woke environmental policies.
Trump’s approach to sexual identity, you are born either male or female, nothing else, is one of basic commonsense, a virtue often beyond Starmer and Co.
So when Trump’s presidency ends in four years America will have prospered, its residents much richer, warmer; when Starmer’s four years are over British residents will be poorer, colder and utterly depressed, and our metropolitan elite think Trump to be mad.
