R&B singer Chris Brown has been denied bail in the United Kingdom following his arrest over a 2023 assault allegation involving music producer Abe Diaw. British authorities arrested the 36-year-old artist on May 15 on charges of grievous bodily harm with intent, alleging that Brown attacked Diaw with a bottle of tequila and later stomped on his head during a confrontation in February 2023. Brown had reportedly left the UK shortly after the alleged incident, delaying legal proceedings until his recent return.
The Grammy-winning singer is expected to remain in custody until June 13, when he must enter a plea and attend a trial preparation hearing at Southwark Crown Court. His detention presents a significant challenge to his international tour schedule, including a show slated for June 15 in Manchester. In court, District Judge Joanne Hirst emphasized the severity of the charges, stating they were beyond the jurisdiction of her court. The Crown Prosecution Service has urged the public to refrain from commentary that could compromise Brown’s right to a fair trial. This legal setback comes just five years after Brown’s previous UK performance ban was lifted, following his 2009 conviction for assaulting Rihanna.

Nigerian Afrobeats star Omah Lay was reportedly involved in a late-night road accident in Lagos involving two of his Tesla Cybertrucks. Eyewitnesses say the incident, which occurred in the Lekki area, saw one of the futuristic electric vehicles sustain heavy front-end damage. Viral videos from the scene show a damaged Cybertruck being towed away and capture what appears to be a heated exchange between bystanders, fueling speculation about the circumstances leading up to the crash.
While fans flooded social media with prayers and well-wishes for the “Soso” hitmaker, others raised questions about the practicality of driving high-end electric vehicles in Lagos’ unpredictable traffic. Omah Lay, who drew attention last year for his high-profile Tesla purchases, has yet to comment on the incident. His management has also remained silent on his condition, though unconfirmed sources suggest the artist was unharmed. The accident comes as Omah Lay continues to ride high on his recent collaboration with Davido on the chart-topping track “With You.”

Two people were killed and 19 others injured on Saturday evening when a Mexican navy training ship, the Cuauhtémoc, collided with the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City. The 297-foot-long, three-masted vessel was carrying 277 people and had been performing a ceremonial departure from the city when it reportedly lost power and drifted into the iconic bridge just before 8:30 p.m. local time. According to Mayor Eric Adams, four of the injured suffered serious wounds, with two later succumbing to their injuries. Disturbing footage showed the ship’s towering masts striking the bridge and splintering apart as crew members clung to the rigging high above the deck.
Emergency services responded swiftly, and officials confirmed that no one fell into the East River during the crash. The ship was reportedly en route to Iceland after a stop in Cozumel, Mexico. The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board announced Sunday that it would deploy a team to investigate the incident. Despite the severity of the collision, early inspections revealed no structural damage to the bridge, which has since reopened to traffic. The Mexican navy acknowledged the Cuauhtémoc had been damaged during a sailing maneuver, while witnesses described hearing a chilling “wood crunch” and screams as the ship struck the span.
5. Liverpool confirms long-term contract extension for Conor Bradley

Liverpool have confirmed that promising right-back Conor Bradley has signed a new long-term contract with the club, in a major step toward securing their defensive future. The Northern Ireland international, who has impressed fans and coaching staff alike with his mature performances in place of Trent Alexander-Arnold, is seen as a key figure in the club’s plans under new manager Arne Slot. With Alexander-Arnold reportedly set to join Real Madrid next month, Bradley’s new deal, which runs until 2029, signals Liverpool’s confidence in the 21-year-old as a potential long-term successor on the right flank.
The extension comes amid strong transfer links between Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong, with a £30 million move expected this summer. Slot may soon face a welcome selection dilemma, with both Bradley and Frimpong offering different attributes at full-back. Speaking on his contract renewal, Bradley expressed pride and excitement, saying, “It’s been a fantastic two years… hopefully we can keep going and keep making more memories.” With two Premier League games remaining, Bradley is focused on ending the season strongly and proving he deserves a regular starting role next season.
