Less than a year after the January ceremony, the 76th Primetime Emmys dazzled at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday. While the spotlight often shines on women’s fashion, this year, Black men truly stepped up their game, elevating sartorial standards to new heights. As with any star-studded affair, the Emmys red carpet showcased a range of styles, and the Black men in attendance embraced the opportunity to make a statement. Whether you’re seeking inspiration for your next black-tie event or simply reveling in the fashion spectacle, the 2024 Emmys delivered an unforgettable showcase of male elegance.
The Looks
At the 2024 Emmy Awards, Lionel Boyce made a bold departure from tradition, channeling his Odd Future roots with a standout ensemble. Eschewing the conventional suit jacket, Boyce opted for a sleek black windbreaker paired with spacious pleated trousers, a club collar shirt, and a pastel pink tie—all from Golf Le Fleur, the brand founded by Odd Future’s Tyler, the Creator. He completed his look with a wool baseball cap, glossy black tassel loafers, and a subtle brooch, adding a nod to his distinctive fashion flair.
Another iconic fashionista is Mekhi Phifer, who embraced contemporary elegance with a nod to classic style at the 2024 Emmys. The actor looked amazing in a classic black tuxedo that was accessorized with a modern bow tie and a white shirt. Phifer’s attention to detail was evident in his choice of shiny black dress shoes and a minimalist yet sophisticated wristwatch. In addition, his refined accessories allowed the impeccably tailored suit to take center stage, showcasing a masterful blend of tradition and modern sophistication.
Again, Tyler James Williams brought a daring flair to the red carpet, matching the energy of his co-stars with a bold fashion choice. The Abbott Elementary star turned heads in a sleeveless Martini-fit Dolce & Gabbana tuxedo shirt that showcased his impressive physique and tattooed arms, sparking a buzz online. (Clearly, he knew exactly what he was doing). Williams buttoned the shirt to the top, fastening it with a Tiffany & Co. brooch that added a touch of sophistication to his audacious look. He completed the ensemble with silver-toned bracelets and rings, perfectly complementing his striking and confident style.
Lastly, Aaron Moten made a memorable fashion statement at the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards, donning a vibrant red military-inspired suit from Kenzo’s Fall 2024 collection. His bold choice vividly stood out on the red carpet, demonstrating his flair for high-fashion risk-taking. The suit’s military cut lent a sophisticated edge, while the vivid red injected dynamic energy into the evening. Also, Moten completed his ensemble with Neil Lane jewelry and an OMEGA Speedmaster Diver timepiece, adding a layer of luxury that perfectly complemented the suit’s audacious style.
