Fans of The Twilight Saga may want to clear their calendars. The beloved vampire romance franchise, based on Stephenie Meyer’s bestselling novels, is officially leaving Netflix on July 1, 2025, just two months after it was added to the platform in May. This limited streaming window has taken many by surprise, especially considering the franchise’s enduring popularity and cultural impact.
The Twilight films have grossed over $3.36 billion worldwide and helped define a generation of YA fantasy cinema. From the moment Twilight premiered in 2008, followed by New Moon, Eclipse, and the two Breaking Dawn installments, the saga has remained a cultural touchstone for fans who grew up alongside Bella Swan and Edward Cullen. With such a massive legacy, the extremely brief reappearance of the franchise on Netflix justifiably raises more than a few eyebrows. As the clock ticks down, fans only have mere days remaining to stream their hearts out.
‘Twilight’ Is Leaving Netflix After Just Arriving
All five films in The Twilight Saga were added to Netflix on May 1, 2025, sparking a wave of excitement and nostalgic rewatches. However, fans were given less than two months to revisit Bella and Edward’s supernatural love story. According to Netflix’s official ‘leaving soon’ list, the saga will no longer be available after June 30. Considering the franchise’s following and popularity, many assumed it would stick around for at least a few months, especially with the summer rewatch season underway.
Given this, the sudden departure feels abrupt, even by Netflix’s usual standards for content rotation. Subscribers have taken to social media to share their surprise and disappointment, with many planning last-minute marathons to squeeze in all five films before time runs out. The complete saga clocks in at just over 10 hours, so watching it all in one go is doable, if a little ambitious. Whether a viewer is revisiting for nostalgia or introducing the series to a first-timer, now is the time. When the calendar flips to July, the Cullen clan will be gone from Netflix. Expressing their thoughts on X, and echoing the sentiments of many, a user wrote:
“Netflix taking the twilight saga off already is criminal. I haven’t had enough time to watch them all 7 times.”
For those who do not want to lose access entirely, other options such as digital purchase or renting the films through other platforms could be considered. However, for those looking to stream them with a Netflix subscription, only a few days remain to take advantage of this offer.
Why Netflix’s Move Is a Blow for ‘Twilight’ Fans
For fans of the franchise, Twilight‘s departure from Netflix so soon after its arrival is not merely inconvenient but frustrating. Going beyond a series of films, the saga represents a core piece of millennial pop culture that shaped a decade of young adult storytelling. Its characters, soundtrack, and famously divided fandom, with fans picking either Team Edward or Team Jacob, are still referenced today. Given this, when Netflix added all five films in May, it felt like a win for fans.
The announcement of a new Twilight animated series reportedly in development, based on Stephenie Meyer’s novel Midnight Sun, which is told from Edward’s perspective, further fueled expectations that the saga would stick around for the long haul. However, this is clearly not the case. What stings even more is the lack of clarity about where the films are going next. Lionsgate, which owns the rights, has licensed the saga to multiple platforms over the years, including Hulu, Peacock, and Prime Video. This has most often been done without much notice, making it difficult for fans to keep track, and even harder for new audiences to discover the films organically.

Netflix promoted the saga’s arrival on the platform with fanfare, which makes its short stay feel like a bait-and-switch. For longtime followers of the franchise, the abrupt departure is just another reminder of how unpredictable the streaming landscape has become, even for massive, fan-favorite franchises such as Twilight.
Is a Two-Month Stay for a Title Normal or Just Plain Strange?
For anyone wondering whether it’s typical for a franchise as big as Twilight to stay on Netflix for just two months, the answer is not really. While Netflix often rotates third-party titles in and out, major film series like this usually get a bit more time. Two months feels unusually short, especially for a property with such lasting appeal.
The likely reason lies in licensing. Twilight is owned by Lionsgate via Summit Entertainment. Since Lionsgate does not operate its own dedicated streaming service, it licenses its content to the highest bidder, sometimes for short-term deals. That means Twilight bounces between platforms depending on where Lionsgate sees the best value. This type of rapid turnover is becoming increasingly common as streaming platforms compete for exclusivity while also managing their budgets. High-profile titles are introduced to drive short bursts of engagement, and then cycled out once their initial surge has ended. It is a strategy designed to keep users logging in frequently, but for viewers, it often feels chaotic.

Whether you’re a sci-fi nerd, a romance junkie, or a Spike Lee fan, this is your last chance to see these movies on Netflix.
Therefore, while the short stay is not exactly unheard of, it does feel jarring for a franchise that still commands such a passionate audience. The quick in-and-out could also be a sign that Twilight is headed somewhere else soon. However, at the time of writing, no alternative platform has confirmed a new streaming date for the saga. Until then, the limited time left on Netflix is the only option for fans.
The Twilight Saga‘s short-lived streaming window has left many fans confused and disappointed, particularly given the franchise’s immense popularity and the excitement generated by its return to Netflix. Yet, this is the unfortunate reality for the films on the streamer. With The Twilight Saga set to leave on July 1, 2025, fans don’t have long to relive the iconic love triangle between Bella, Edward, and Jacob. Whether you are someone revisiting the films for nostalgia, the soundtrack, or the sheer thrill of reliving a cultural moment, now is the time to press play. The Twilight Saga is available for streaming on Netflix until July 1, 2025.
