The Beverley Festival of Christmas will no longer go ahead tomorrow (Sunday, December 8) due to the weather, East Riding of Yorkshire Council said.
A council spokesperson said it was “devastated” that the festival had been cancelled after more than six months of planning.
“The safety of all involved is our primary concern, and this decision has not been taken lightly,” they said.
“We will communicate with all traders and stallholders to advise around refunds, and we would like to thank them all for their understanding and support at this time.”

They added that Beverley is still open for business but urged people to check the weather forecast before travelling.
It comes after the council announced earlier this week that the reindeer parade at the festival had been cancelled due to an outbreak of bluetongue disease.
As The Press reported, the animals were axed from the event as the town is in a restriction zone for the virus.
Bluetongue is an animal disease that affects livestock including cattle and sheep, as well as goats, deer and llamas, with symptoms including a blue and swollen tongue, fever, reduced milk yield, and, in the most severe cases, death.
It does not affect humans or food safety.
