Broadcasting transmission company Arqiva is set to remove two radio masts from a site located between the River Ouse end of Broadway West and St Oswald’s Road in Fulford.
City of York Council Labour Group said there will be a joint public meeting on January 20 at the Christian Science Church in Kilburn Road offering residents the chance to have their say on what the space should be used for.
The mast field is in the Fishergate ward but has a border with the Fulford and Heslington ward and Labour councillors hold the three seats on the council.
Fishergate ward councillor Sarah Wilson said: “This is a green space with lots of potential, so we want to hear from residents in Fishergate and Fulford what they want to see the field used for once the masts have been removed.
“This will help the council to develop some proposals to consult residents on”.
Fulford and Heslington ward councillor Kate Ravilious said: “This field could be used for wildflower or tree planting, but it could equally be put to other uses.
“We have a very limited budget for any new plans so we’ll be looking to work with our fantastic local communities to all pull together to enhance this space.”
Councillors said they will be available for residents from 6pm on the night of the meeting, which will begin at 6.30pm.
