They are delighted that, despite the economic headwinds, the venue was recognised by the Judges at RCA Showcase as being The Racecourse of the Year 2024 for the welcome it offered to racegoers.
On the sporting front the Juddmonte International was independently ranked the Best Horse Race in the World.
The support of so many people meant a six-figure sum was again raised on Macmillan Charity Raceday, with now more than £12 million in funds raised since its creation in 1971.
The Sky Bet Ebor Festival 2024 was able to offer prize money at record levels, with every race offering at least £100,000 in prize money. The Festival continued to showcase the investment in facilities such as the Bustardthorpe Development officially opened in August by Her Majesty The Queen, Royal Patron.
To see the highest-rated horse in Europe, City of Troy and a further new record for the number of runners, validates this success of the venue.
The racecourse is once again proudly supporting the Business Personality of the Year Award and looks forward to seeing the finalists who always impress with their drive and dedication and for heading organisations that make a real difference in their field.
Last year, the Business Personality of the Year 2024, also sponsored by York Racecourse, went to Alex McCallion, Director of Works and Precinct at York Minster, who helped to develop its groundbreaking Neighbourhood Plan. He was also behind projects such as York’s statue to the late Queen Elizabeth II and the Centre of Excellence to train stonemasons, and inspired and motivated the city to produce the ledger stone delivered to New York in May and strengthen links with the US city.

This category award is open to all business people in the region who demonstrate inspired leadership. Judges will look for the personality’s role and impact in their own organisation’s success as well as how they have had an impact on the wider business community, examples of their flair and method for getting things achieved. They will also look at his or her personal achievements and their personal challenges which have been successfully overcome and how they have been a role model for others.
