Princess Diana Might Have Ended Harry and William’s Feud

Prince William and Prince Harry’s royal feud continues to rage on, and it seems as if both parties aren’t bending to each other’s will anytime soon. But according to a royal expert, Princess Diana would have been so disappointed by Harry and William’s rift that she would have stepped in to intervene.

Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told the outlet, “I think she’d be distraught that the boys are still feuding,” she previously told GB News, per The Mirror. “But I think somehow she’d have got them together and just sorted it all out.”

In the case of William and Harry, Bond believes that Harry has more of the rebellious spirit that Diana had than William does, which adds context to how he has moved within the monarchy. “Harry is ‘the Spencer’ of the two of them. He is fiery, vulnerable, fragile. Very much in the way Diana was,” Bond said. “He is complex like Diana was. Likable. Loveable. It is difficult. He’s forging his own way much like his mother did. He is the troubled one of the two.”

Diana’s former butler Paul Burrell has also spoken out about the brothers’ relationship, saying that were the princess here, she would have “sorted” out the matter a long time ago, per OK. “If Diana was here, they would be different because she wouldn’t stand for this nonsense, and she would have sorted it out long before now—but, unfortunately, there’s nobody here that can sort it out,”

Though William has remained relatively tight-lipped about his and his younger brother’s relationship, Harry has alluded to it. In a 2023 appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, the host asked him, “If your mother were still alive, do you ever think about how she might handle this moment?” referring to the tensions between him and William.

“We wouldn’t have got to this moment,” Harry replied. “It’s impossible to say where we would be now—where those relationships would be now — but there is no way that the distance between my brother and I would be the same.”
