Prince Harry is opening up about the joys of fatherhood ahead of turning 40.
The Duke of Sussex, who is getting ready to celebrate his milestone birthday on Sunday (Sept. 15), revealed that his two children—son Prince Archie, 5, and daughter, Princess Lilibet, 3—whom he shares with his wife, Meghan Markle, have given him a “fresh perspective on life” and motivate him more than ever before.
“Becoming a father of two incredibly kind and funny kids has given me a fresh perspective on life, as well as sharpening my focus in all my work,” he said in a statement to the BBC, adding: “Being a dad is one of life’s greatest joys and has only made me more driven and more committed to making this world a better place.”

As for his 40th birthday, Harry says he’s looking forward to turning the chapter. “I was anxious about 30, I’m excited about 40,” he said. “Whatever the age, my mission is to continue showing up and doing good in the world.”
According to People, Harry plans to celebrate his 40th quietly at home with his wife and kids, before jetting off for an international getaway with close friends. And while the guest list for the boys’ trip has not been revealed, it’s safe to say that his older brother, Prince William, will not be invited.

The brothers have reportedly “not spoken for months and currently have no contact,” per The Mirror. And most recently, the two attended their uncle Lord Fellowes’ funeral in Norfolk last month, but failed to acknowledge each other’s presence.
“William and Harry were both there but we never saw them speak to each other and they were keeping their distance,” a fellow attendee revealed, adding that the princes sat apart during the service.
