WARNING: SPOILERS FOR ONE PIECE CHAPTER #1127
One Piece author Eiichiro Oda spent little time throwing Luffy’s crew into danger with the brand new Elbaf arc that brilliantly starred the original Straw Hat pirates in a nostalgic beginning to the post-Egghead storyline. After Wano became the longest arc in the series, the following section focused on Dr.Vegapunk, the Five Elders, and the tragic tale of Kuma and Bonney, which felt like it sped by. After a short celebration, Luffy’s crew suddenly woke up well into the next huge adventure.
Throughout Luffy’s journey, he and his crew have run into and befriended several Giants who teased the ancient colossal race themed after Viking mythology. Dorry and Brogy were the first giant warriors the Straw Hats encountered, and it was a delight to see their return when they helped rescue the crew from the Five Elders’s assault on Egghead Island. Now, the same exact crew members who helped those giants years ago have made their dramatic and action-packed entrance to the Giant’s homeland of Elbaf in chapter #1127, which managed to feel new and nostalgic at the same time.
The First Members Of The Straw Hat Crew Assemble To Give Elbaf A Big Welcome
Elbaf Was Teased In One Piece Chapter #116, Which Was Released 25 Years Ago
The Straw Hat’s first chapter on Elbaf begins with a brilliant move in storytelling tension by showing Nami and Usopp, arguably the least powerful members of the Straw Hat crew, mysteriously waking up in a giant Lego-like castle occupied by huge pets. If the adventure had begun with Luffy, Zoro, or Sanji, many intense situations would have been quickly resolved now that they have become some of the strongest pirates. However, when the Monster Trio arrived to save Usopp and Nami from a near-death encounter, the reunion sparked tingles in fans who have spent years enjoying Eiichio Oda’s epic.
“…a reminder of the charming character dynamics that helped many fans fall in love with
One Piece.”
Throughout One Piece‘s beginning, the East Blue saga, Luffy and fans were introduced to and quickly fell in love with the first members of the Straw Hat Crew: Zoro, Nami, Usopp, and Sanji. While the other members of the crew are absolutely beloved and need to be found on Elbaf, seeing the original Straw Hats make an adventurous entrance into the mysterious new land of Elbaf was an experience many long-time readers didn’t know they needed.
After So Many Adventures, Seeing The East Blue Five Together Is Soothing
Few Arcs Have Thrown Luffy’s Crew Into Peril So Quickly
Despite chapter #1127 being the first chapter to feature the Straw Hats on Elbaf, Eiichiro Oda packed it full of content that delighted long-time fans. One of the biggest was seeing the first members of Luffy’s crew interacting together; it was a reminder of the charming character dynamics that helped many fans fall in love with One Piece. If the introductory chapter to the Elbaf arc is anything to go by, fans are in store for another incredible arc in One Piece‘s final saga.
One Piece
Created by Eiichiro Oda, One Piece is a multimedia franchise that began as a manga series and follows the adventures of the Straw Hat Pirates as led by Monkey D. Luffy. Luffy, an enthusiastic pirate with a thirst for adventure, is afflicted by a mysterious curse that gives him various powers he uses to protect himself and his friends. The manga eventually gave way to the anime series, with the two being some of history’s longest-running anime and manga series. Along with over fifty video games made over the years, the series entered the live-action world with Netflix’s 2023 adaptation.
