Emergency services were called to Nun Monkton shortly before 10.40am today (Sunday, February 9).
The animal was stuck in mud in the River Nidd, North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said.
A service spokesperson added: “Crews used level three swift water rescue equipment and worked alongside a farmer to recover the sheep.
“They then left the sheep in the care of the farmer.”
