The hugely popular Merchant Adventurers’ Charity Beer Festival returns for a third year in the stunning Merchant Adventurers’ Hall on Friday and Saturday July 4 and 5.
Brew York and Elvington Brewery are headline sponsors with a focus primarily on Yorkshire Breweries and the exceptional range of producers on our doorstep.
Throughout the festival weekend, the 668-year-old Merchant Adventurers’ Great Hall will transform into a Keg Beer Hall, and the atmospheric Undercroft will welcome the 30-foot Cask Bar featuring 90 different beers, lagers, and ciders from 30 breweries from across the region.

Regular festival goers will be pleased to see the return of the Brew York and Love Cheese collaboration.
Love Cheese owner Jordan Thomson, together with Merchant Adventurer Lee Grabham of Brew York, bring together years of cheese expertise and brewing and ale knowledge into informative, fun, and interactive tasting sessions that festival attendees can book on arrival at the festival.
Merchant Adventurer, Lee Grabham said: “It’s great to be working with Jordan again this year. This beer festival is all about showcasing the best craft ales in the region, and with Jordan’s expertise, we can bring out the best in them by pairing with some delicious local cheeses.”
Owner of Love Cheese, Jordan Thomson said: “I’m thrilled to be involved for the third year running – it’s always the first thing I add to my calendar when the dates are announced!
“I can’t wait to join Lee and Jamie to talk through the beers and discover the perfect cheese to pair with them. Hopefully, there will be some Brew York and Pivovar classics to sample, as well as some of the modern brews from near and far!”
“We are also bringing our pizza oven along for the first time, so we will be making pizza fresh to order with some of our cheeses and other toppings. I highly recommend the Venison and Smoked Oakwood Pizza; a firm favourite with Love Cheese customers.”
Through ticket sales and sponsorships, last year’s festival raised £21,000 for the Merchant Adventurers’ Charitable Trust.
The Trust supports a wide range of education projects, including providing free school visits for over 2000 York primary school children. It also funds a unique business & enterprise course for York teenagers and has launched an apprentice support programme.
There are still casks available for sponsorship at this year’s Festival, so if you’re a local business or are celebrating a special occasion, you can York Pullman, Eborlights Properties Ltd, and BHP, plus many others, at the Cask Bar.
Cask sponsorship is £150 and includes:
Your name or company name displayed on the cask bar, your name or company name displayed in the festival programme, Two tickets, including beer tokens for the Grand Opening of the festival on Friday July 4 at 5.30 pm
