Although Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas‘s Hollywood romance has soured, one thing they can agree on is that their girls are the most important things in their lives. The former couple’s story goes all the way back to 2016, when Jonas shot his shot by sliding into Turner’s Instagram DMs. A few months later, they became an item, and their relationship ramped up in October 2017 when Jonas got down on one knee. They made it official in a last-minute Las Vegas wedding in May 2019, and then again that June in an intimate ceremony in France.
The couple went from newlyweds to parents in July 2020, when they welcomed their first daughter, Willa. One daughter became two in July 2022, with the addition of Delphine .
The parents of two separated the following year, with Jonas filing for divorce on September 5, 2023. The filing explained that “the marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken.” Jonas and Turner released a joint statement the next day: “After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage. There are many speculative narratives as to why, but truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”
That same month, Turner sued Jonas and requested their children be returned to England, stating they were “wrongfully removed or wrongfully retained.” In October 2023, the pair determined a temporary custody agreement that allowed Willa and Delphine to split their time equally between England and the United States. In January 2024, Turner dropped the “wrongful retention” claims. Their divorce was finalized in September 2024.

The two now maintain a co-parenting relationship, which the Joan star opened up about during an October 2024 interview with Harper’s Bazaar.
“Look, we’re doing the best we can for our kids,” the mom-of-two said. “We’re co-parenting, and I think we’re doing pretty great at co-parenting together. We’ve been through a lot this year, and it takes time to repair what’s happened, but I’ll do anything to make sure my kids feel like they have a mum and dad that can always be there for them, together or apart.”
Although Turner and Jonas had to deal with their split in the public eye, they are keeping their daughters’ lives as private as possible. They never share photos of them on social media and speak about them sparingly. Ahead, read everything we know about the two girls.

Turner and Jonas officially entered parenthood with the birth of their first daughter, Willa, on July 22, 2020 in Los Angeles. The pair have shielded their babygirl from the spotlight, especially in her early days. However, Turner revealed a sweet tattoo tribute to her child that she got the November after Willa’s birth, showing off a tiny ‘W’ on her wrist on Instagram.
She celebrated her first U.K. Mother’s Day in March 2021 with a different Instagram tribute: “I’m so grateful to the two loves of my life for making me a mama. @JoeJonas and my beautiful baby girl. It’s my favourite job I’ve ever had,” she wrote.
During a May 2022 appearance on The Wrap’s UnWrapped podcast, she said becoming a mom has not only enriched her personal life, but her acting career. “The empathy is heightened; the feelings about family are just like overflowing. It’s made me a better actor, becoming a mother,” Turner explained.
During a May 2022 interview with Elle UK, Turner explained that a then-21-month-old Willa didn’t quite understand the adjustment she was in for when the couple was expecting again. “I’ll point to my stomach and say, ‘What’s in there?’ and she’ll go, ‘Baby.’ But then she points to her own stomach and says, ‘Baby,’ and then she’ll point to her daddy’s tummy and say, ‘Baby.’ So, I think she just thinks that a belly is a baby and that’s the name for it,” she shared. “She wants Mummy all of the time— she’s claiming her territory.”

The Game of Thrones alum confirmed she was expecting again during the same Elle UK interview. “It’s what life is about for me—raising the next generation,” she told the publication. “The greatest thing in life is seeing my daughter go from strength to strength. We’re so excited to be expanding the family. It’s the best blessing ever.” Jonas was just as psyched to have a new addition coming along: “It’s such an amazing part of life. It’s been amazing to be a dad and to learn every day more about myself,” he told People in June 2022.
They became girl parents for the second time on July 14, 2022 when they welcomed little Delphine, whose name wasn’t publicly revealed until more than a year later in September 2023. It came out amid Turner and Jonas’s divorce proceedings.
At the time of Delphine’s birth, Jonas commemorated the milestone with a sweet tribute video to his wife: “Started from the bottom now we’re here…I want to see your ❤️ story,” he captioned the video.
In August 2022, the singer spoke about balancing his home life with his career, and how each was a privilege to have: “Some weeks are a little bit more challenging than others, but it makes it a lot easier when you enjoy your gig,” he told People. “I wake up every day just thrilled to be able to go make music or act and create different projects and have a beautiful family, so it feels like a dream come true.”
