The shops and other outlets will be showcasing what they do and offering special items, products and promotions on the day.
The businesses will be displaying pink fans and flower decorations in their windows, and a special window sticker with QR code to donate to their chosen charity of the day, Breast Cancer Now.
Sarah Clark, owner of Interiors at Nine to Eleven, in Market Place, Malton, said: “International Women’s Day is a special moment to reflect, recognise, and celebrate the incredible women in our lives and our communities. As a female business owner in Malton, I feel incredibly lucky to be surrounded by so many inspiring women who are running their own businesses, bringing creativity, passion, and resilience into everything they do.
“Founding and growing Interiors at Nine to Eleven has been a journey filled with challenges, learning, and growth, but one of the best parts of it all is being part of a network of brilliant, supportive women who are making a difference in our town. So on International Women’s Day, I want to take a moment to shine a light on just a few of the wonderful female-led businesses that make Malton such a special place.
“From flowing Prosecco at Parnaby’s Saddlery and Frock Exchange, Christine with her gorgeous pink landscapes at The Gallery Malton, The Topiary Tree Florist’s pink bouquets, to Malton Relish’s pink cupcakes and so much more to look forward too. It’ll be a wonderful day of celebration for the women of Malton.”
Brass Castle Brewery in Yorkersgate will also celebrate International Women’s Day for a free beer.
Held on Saturday, March 8, women are invited to visit the brewery’s Malton Taphouse for a free beer on the day (including alcohol-free beer) and the opportunity to join a tour of the beer production facility.
International Women’s Day is marked around the world annually to celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. It also underlines the ongoing need to accelerate women’s equality across the board. For centuries, women have played a vital role in brewing beer, yet their contributions have often been overlooked.
Ellis Walsh of Brass Castle Brewery said: “Today, women are reclaiming their place in beer and reshaping the industry again, embracing new flavours, perspectives and innovations. International Women’s Day is great chance to celebrate the role of women in brewing history and to raise a glass to them! We’re looking forward to welcoming women to our Taphouse on Saturday March 8th with a free beer on arrival. We’re also planning to do some tours of our brewery, to give visitors an insight into the science and craft behind brewing.”
