Main Street, Heslington, near the University of York, will be closed for two days this weekend between Bank House and Memorial Cottages.
The closures are set to take place from 9am on September 14 to 8pm on September 15.
A spokesperson for the council said: “This is so that sewer maintenance works can be carried out safely.”
Access will be maintained for residents and an alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Low Lane, School Lane, and Field Lane.
