Officers have appealed for information and help from anyone who was in contact with Mr Lewis the day before the incident.
He is believed to have driven from Doncaster to Hull on Friday evening, before then travelling onto Manchester.
He was then returning to West Yorkshire along the M62 when he stopped at Hartshead Moor Services.
Sgt Steve Suggitt said: “A great deal of work remains ongoing to investigate the circumstances of this collision which tragically resulted in Leslie’s death and in another driver receiving serious injuries.
“I am seeking assistance from any member of the public who may know Leslie and had contact with him on Friday 22 March, whether in person or by telephone, as it is important we build up a full picture of the circumstances of the incident.”
