Barnsley have completed their first signing of transfer deadline day after agreeing a three-and-a-half year deal for Fleetwood defender Josh Earl.
Earl, 25, began his career with Preston and made his senior debut in August 2017, aged 17.
During his six years at Deepdale he had loan spells at Bolton, Ipswich and Burton before joining Fleetwood in June 2022.
“I’m really happy,” Earl told the club website.
“Just walking around the stadium and meeting the lads today has been really enjoyable. I can’t wait to get going.”
He joins the Tykes’ challenge for promotion from League One with the club in fifth place, five points off the automatic promotion spots.
