Town midfielder Antony Evans has moved to the League Two club on a season-long loan deal to reunite with ex-Terriers boss Lee Grant
Huddersfield Town midfielder Antony Evans has joined Walsall on a season-long loan.
The 27-year-old, who hasn’t featured for the Terriers this term, has linked up with former Town boss Lee Grant at the League Two outfit.
Evans has made 46 appearances for Town since joining the club two years ago, but only played nine games for the Terriers last campaign.
Town’s sporting director Chris Markham told his club’s website: “Last season was really challenging for Antony, with both knee injuries taking a significant portion of the campaign away from him. Keen to return to playing regular competitive minutes, that isn’t a role we can currently guarantee him here, so we’ve worked with Antony and his representatives to find a solution that satisfies all concerned.
“Having welcomed several new faces to the squad throughout the summer, we have always been really honest about the necessity to manage the size of our squad heading into the season.

“We wish Antony nothing but the best for his time with Walsall, and we’ll continue to monitor his progress there on a regular basis moving forward.”
Head coach Martin Drury added: “Antony has worked incredibly hard to get back to full fitness both last season and over the summer, and he’s trained well since returning for pre-season. For him, the next step is to play regularly again, which we had some honest conversations around.
“I’m pleased that Antony and the club have reached a conclusion that is in everyone’s best interests, as he is a great character and has been a really well-liked member of our squad. On behalf of all of our staff here, we wish him really well for the season ahead.”
