The Ber months have arrived, and for many Filipinos, that means more celebrations, shopping trips, reunions, travel plans, gifts, and year-end expenses.
The Ber Months Moneymaxxing Guide
With so many things competing for your budget, preparing early can help you enjoy the holiday season without unnecessary financial pressure.
The strategy is simple: moneymaxx your way through the Ber months. Start saving early, make your existing funds work harder, and find ways to get more value from the spending you already plan.
Here are practical ways to get your money holiday-ready with Maya.
1. Start Building Your Holiday Fund Early
You don’t have to give up dining out, weekend plans, or online shopping to prepare for Christmas.
A more manageable approach is to start setting aside money gradually. With Maya Personal Goals, you can create up to five separate savings goals and earn up to 8% interest per annum, allowing you to organize funds for specific priorities.
You can create separate goals for Christmas gifts, holiday travel, parties, shopping, or other year-end expenses. This makes it easier to see how much you have saved for each purpose instead of keeping everything in one general fund.
Starting early also means your holiday budget does not have to depend on a single paycheck in December.
2. Make Your Savings Work Harder
Saving money is only one part of moneymaxxing. You can also look for ways to make the funds you have already set aside work harder.
With Maya Savings, you can earn up to 15% interest per annum, credited daily, so your savings can grow while you prepare for the holidays.
If you know you will need extra money for gifts, travel, celebrations, or other holiday expenses, setting those funds aside early can make December spending easier to manage.
The idea is straightforward. Put your money to work while you wait to use it.
3. Get More Value From Your Holiday Spending
Before you buy, consider what you can get back from the money you are already planning to spend.
For shoppers who prioritize cashback, the Landers Cashback Everywhere Credit Card lets cardholders earn up to 5% cashback at Landers, 2% on dining, and 1% on most other purchases.
If travel is a priority for 2027, the Maya Black Credit Card lets cardholders earn Maya Miles on eligible spending, including up to 10x Maya Miles at Maya Black Preferred merchants.
Maya Miles can be redeemed for travel and other lifestyle rewards, making them relevant for travelers who are already planning their next trips.
Before choosing a credit card, review its fees, terms, eligibility requirements, and rewards conditions to make sure they fit your spending habits.
4. Make Your Holiday Spending Across the Philippines Count
Holiday expenses can happen almost anywhere.
You might shop for gifts at a major mall, have dinner with your barkada, buy ingredients from a neighborhood store, or make a last-minute purchase from a local business.
With the Maya Card, eligible purchases anywhere in the Philippines can earn 1% cashback.
This gives you a chance to get something back on everyday purchases you were already planning to make during the holiday season.
Use rewards as an added benefit, not a reason to spend more than your budget allows.
5. When the Purchase Is Big, Make It Mini
The holiday season can also bring bigger expenses.
You may need a new smartphone, an appliance before relatives arrive, or a major Christmas gift that you have been planning to buy for months.
Instead of paying the full amount upfront, you can convert eligible purchases into 3, 6, 9, or 12 monthly payments through Maya Mini Payments.
This can give you more flexibility when managing a larger expense alongside other holiday costs.
Before choosing a payment plan, check the repayment amount and consider your expected expenses in the coming months. Choose an option that you can comfortably afford without putting pressure on your regular budget.
Moneymaxxing Beyond the Holidays
The holiday season can be one of the busiest spending periods of the year, but moneymaxxing doesn’t mean cutting every expense you enjoy.
It means becoming more intentional with the money you already have.
Start your holiday fund early. Let your savings work while you wait to spend them. Look for rewards on purchases you already plan to make. Use payment options carefully when handling larger expenses.
These habits can also extend beyond Christmas. After the holidays, the same approach can help you prepare for travel, major purchases, annual bills, and other financial goals throughout the year.
