Despite being left off of Netflix’s upcoming 2025 slate of movies and television shows, Guy Ritchie’s award-winning The Gentlemen spin-off is set to return to the streamer with Season 2. Boasting a fresh Rotten Tomatoes score from both audiences and critics alike, The Gentlemen was a worthy follow-up to the beloved original film of the same name, featuring a new cast and storyline that saw James Bond favorite Theo James front and center. With another season confirmed, The Gentlemen will be filming sooner than expected, but fans won’t be having as much “fun” the second time around.
During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, The Monkey star Theo James was asked about the upcoming season of The Gentlemen. The actor confirmed that new episodes are set to film during this spring, while also teasing a different tone for Season 2. The first season was a fun, chaos-filled follow-up that captured the tone of the original film, but it seems Ritchie will be going a different route now. James says The Gentlemen will return with a “bigger and darker” season, revealing the intention was to evolve the show to keep things fresh.
“We start season two of The Gentlemen [in the spring], which is bigger and darker than season one. I really wanted to — and so did Marcos Melendez Guy [Ritchie] — make sure that we evolve the show, and that is the intention. As fun as the first season was, if you do the exact same thing again, it may not be as fun, essentially.”

If The Gentlemen completes filming by the start of the summer, there is a chance that it could make its way onto Netflix before the end of the year. However, fans should probably set their expectations for an early 2026 release window. Ritchie does not take any breaks as a filmmaker, and it seems he won’t be stopping anytime soon as he moves on from his Indiana Jones-esque adventure film starring John Krasinski, Fountain of Youth ,and his upcoming action-thriller In the Grey, featuring Henry Cavill, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Eiza González.
‘The Gentlemen’ Cast, Crew & Plot of Season 2
It did not take long for The Gentlemen is nail a second season renewal shortly after the show’s debut on Netflix. It’s not shocking, either, as the series boasts a fantastic plot and cast. In addition to Theo James, The Gentlemen features Kaya Scodelario, Daniel Ings, and Captain America: Brave New World star Giancarlo Esposito. Behind the scenes, Ritchie is once again directing the eight-episode season and co-writing the scripts alongside Matthew Read (Peaky Blinders, Only God Forgives). Check out the synopsis for The Gentlemen from Netflix, which teases the second season.
“‘The Gentlemen’ follows Eddie (Theo James), who becomes the new Duke of Halstead following his father’s death. In addition to the new title, Eddie also inherits the family’s sizable country estate — and the illegal weed farm located underneath it, run by the sophisticated yet ruthless Susie (Kaya Scodelario) and her crime boss father Bobby Glass (Ray Winstone). Although hesitant to join the criminal lifestyle at first, he develops a taste for it and finds an unexpected ally in Susie as they face down the UK and Europe’s most notorious and hilarious gangster families. And by the end of the first eight episodes, Eddie solidifies himself as co-owner — along with Susie and Bobby — of the Glass’ massive weed empire.”
While plot details are scarce for The Gentlemen Season 2, Scodelario previously hoped that the series would move away from England. “Selfishly, I’d love them to go abroad somewhere,” the actress said. Once the second season actually begins filming, fans could get their answer on the show’s potential next setting.
