From Ground to Sky: AirAsia Philippines Celebrates Women Making an Impact
Manila, Philippines — In a remarkable showcase of female leadership in the aviation industry, AirAsia Philippines proudly operated an all-women flight from Manila to the picturesque Caticlan (Flight Z2 227) on Monday. This historic journey was distinguished by a completely female team, encompassing not only skilled pilots but also dedicated cabin crew members, diligent engineering staff, ground personnel, and ramp agents. Each woman brought her expertise and passion to the forefront, symbolizing empowerment and inspiring future generations in a field traditionally dominated by men.
AirAsia Philippines honors women in action
From the moment passengers checked in until the aircraft gracefully took to the skies, women orchestrated every facet of the flight experience. At the helm was Captain Jasmin Timola, a seasoned aviator with nearly a decade of service at AirAsia Philippines, expertly commanding the aircraft. Complementing her leadership was an all-female cabin crew, whose attentive service ensured a welcoming atmosphere throughout the journey. Behind the scenes, a team of empowered women managed ground operations, overseeing everything from bustling check-in counters and rigorous security protocols to intricate engineering tasks and efficient ramp services. Together, they exemplified excellence in aviation, demonstrating the strength and capability of AirAsia’s dedicated female workforce.
In the vibrant landscape of the Philippines, the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline proudly showcases its commitment to gender diversity through a remarkable team of over 700 female Allstars. These accomplished women represent a significant 39% of the airline’s total workforce, embodying the spirit of inclusivity and empowerment. This initiative is part of a broader mission within the AirAsia Aviation Group, which not only champions diversity but also leads the way in the aviation industry, where the global averages stand at only 7% female pilots and 8.9% female engineers. Furthermore, the airline is actively advancing its dedication to equitable representation in technology with the ambitious #WomenInTech initiative, aiming to achieve a goal of 30% female participation in this critical field. This progressive approach underscores the airline’s commitment to fostering a diverse and equitable workplace, inspiring women to take to the skies and engage in technology.
“The era when the aviation industry was predominantly viewed as a ‘man’s world’ has firmly receded into history. I take immense pride in being one of the many resilient women powering AirAsia. Each passing year, we witness a remarkable increase in the number of women joining our workforce, showcasing our steadfast commitment to cultivating an inclusive and diverse workplace. This progressive shift not only enriches our team but also enhances our ability to serve our guests, as we thrive on the ethos of providing equal opportunities for everyone,” expressed Zoe Lee, Chief Finance Officer of AirAsia Philippines.
