Following a change in ownership at Blyth, the club have confirmed that Stockdale is one of four staff members to be leaving the club.
Irfan Liaquat, who took over the Spartans as owner just six months ago, has agreed a deal to sell the football club to local businessman Martin Trinder after recent rocky times for the North East side.
Blyth were relegated from the Vanarama National League North under former York City striker Jon Shaw, and currently find themselves rooted to the bottom of the Northern Premier Division on nine points.
Following Shaw’s departure in September, Blyth appointed Stockdale, who had been assistant manager previously, as Shaw’s successor, which was Stockdale’s first managerial position in football.
He had previously worked as York’s Head of Recruitment during the 2023/24 season, with City confirming survival on the final day after a 1-0 defeat to Solihull Moors.
The 39-year-old had initially joined York in a dual role under former manager Mikey Morton, but injuries hampered his time on the pitch, making just four appearances for City throughout last season.
Stockdale boasts experience from his playing days, having made just shy of 500 appearances as a goalkeeper and representing the likes of Brighton & Hove Albion, Sheffield Wednesday and Fulham.
Stockdale commented on his departure on social media, stating: “Gutted to have been SACKED. Not what I wanted or worked for.
“It’s been a great time me and worked with some great people. Hopefully I can try somewhere else.
“I wish @Blyth_Spartans all the best but more so the staff and players I had while there.
“Truly great people.”
