Summary
- Aaron Paul may be joining Fallout Season 2, adding to an already impressive cast of talented actors.
- Jonathan Nolan’s personal history with the Fallout games adds an interesting layer to the show’s development.
- Season 2’s potential storylines include New Vegas and the aftermath of the Cold Fusion device.
Jonathan Nolan recently revealed that Aaron Paul could be wearing a Pip-Boy and power armor in Fallout‘s upcoming second season. Prime Video’s adaptation of the iconic video game franchise (currently being overseen by Bethesda Softworks) already features a phenomenal cast. Season 1 saw Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, Walton Goggins, Kyle MacLachlan, Matt Berry, Leslie Uggams, Chris Parnell, Michael Emerson, and Moises Arias, among many others, all step out into the 1950s-inspired wasteland. It appears that Season 2 will potentially feature another, even bigger name.
In an interview with IGN, Fallout‘s executive producer and director, Jonathan Nolan, along with lead video game designer Todd Howard, were asked about potential casting choices for Season 2. The pair were asked if any actors had reached out to them following the premiere, asking to be cast in Season 2. Nolan quickly responded with, “Aaron Paul!”

“Aaron Paul was at the premiere, a human being I love so much,” Nolan said. The executive producer had nothing but kind words to say about his former colleague (the pair previously worked together on HBO’s Westworld). “He was very enthusiastic about the show. There was sort of an unspoken kind of like, ‘What’s up, man?’ But we’ve been hearing from so many people.”
Jonathan Nolan surprised fans when he recently revealed that he was once addicted to Bethesda’s Fallout 3. Nolan’s addiction was apparently so severe he felt it nearly derailed his career. Nolan expressed a similar surprise at his past colleagues revealing they loved the games during the interview. Nolan said, “It’s kind of fun to see the Fallout fans come out of the woodwork. People you’ve known a long time, and you realize, ‘Oh, you’ve been playing this whole time.’ So it’s been a lot of fun.”

This obviously isn’t an official casting announcement, but Nolan and Paul’s strong relationship, paired with the actor’s love of the franchise, means it is highly likely the Breaking Bad and Westworld star will have some involvement in Fallout‘s second season.
