The new lighting at Millfields Park will improve access to its jogging track, outdoor gym, and skate park during darker hours, allowing residents to use the facilities safely in the evenings.
Colin Fletcher, chairman of Easingwold Running Club, said: “This project has been years in the making and we’re thrilled to see it finally come to life.
“The lights will make a huge difference – whether you’re out for a jog, using the gym, or just enjoying the park after sunset.”
The project is the result of a long-term vision led by Easingwold Running Club in partnership with Easingwold Town Council.
The scheme has received funding from community fundraising and external grants.
Support has come from FCC Communities Foundation (£20,000), North Yorkshire Sport (£10,000), Radfield Home Care York & Rural (£5,000), Easingwold Running Club (£3,650), and England Athletics (£1,000).
Ed Gill, director of Radfield Home Care York & Rural, said: “We’re proud to support this project with a £5,000 donation, which reflects our commitment to improving health, wellbeing and independence in local communities.”
