Enigmatic musician Cosmic Crooner has released “The Balcony,” the latest single from his highly anticipated sophomore album “European Vacation,” scheduled to drop on May 2nd across vinyl, CD, and digital platforms.
The new track blends the smooth rhythms of bossa nova with cinematic suspense, creating what feels like the perfect soundtrack to a noir detective story. With its evocative atmosphere, “The Balcony” transports listeners to a cool, smoky jazz bar on a warm summer night.
“Of all the tracks on the album, this song took the longest to finish writing, but I’m really happy with the results,” reveals Cosmic Crooner. “It was inspired by Brazilian music and by French and Italian film scores from the ’60s and ’70s.”
The single was recorded live with string arrangements added later by Jesse Kotansky, known for his work with Adam Green and Willie J Healey.
“European Vacation” follows the Amsterdam-based artist’s acclaimed 2023 debut “The Perks Of Being A Hypocrite” and promises to be a sensory journey into luxurious sonic landscapes. Drawing inspiration from musical legends like David Axelrod, Serge Gainsbourg, and Marvin Gaye, Cosmic Crooner crafts an immersive experience delivered with a raconteur’s wit.
“I wanted to make a timeless album,” the artist explains. “I love Brazilian music, progressive soul from the ’70s and jazz. I’ve tried to incorporate my inspirations into this world.”
The upcoming album was produced by rising talent Pieter Vonk and features string arrangements by Trey Pollard (Foxygen, Faye Webster) and Jesse Kotansky. Cosmic Crooner has been building a devoted following across Europe through tours supporting acts like Temples, Timber Timbre, Tempesst, and most recently, Mattiel.
“European Vacation” will feature eleven tracks, including “The Balcony” alongside intriguingly titled songs like “Never Wear Your Own Merch,” “Swimming Pool,” and “Mosquito In The Photo Booth.”
For fans of sophisticated, genre-blending soundscapes that evoke nostalgia while creating something entirely fresh, Cosmic Crooner’s latest offering appears poised to become a summer essential when it releases next month.
