Cakes d’licious, in Clifton Green, York, has shut, auctioneers dealing with the site have confirmed.
“The business owner has ceased to trade,” said a spokesperson for auction rooms Gilbert Baitson.
“We’re actively looking for a new person for the site. All enquiries can be made to Gilbert Baitson.”

The tea room first opened in 2012. Its most recent activity on social media cited a sudden closure due to staff sickness, which read: “Due to unfortunate circumstances the tearoom will be closed today.
“Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.
“Thank you for your understanding.”
The post was made just five days before the store was confirmed to have closed.

The tea room’s website describes it as a “small family run business”, adding “our aim is to provide you with a true vintage experience, located just off Clifton Green with free parking nearby in a beautiful suburb very close to the centre of York”.
The website adds: “Nikki, the owner, has a passion for all things vintage and the tea room is a treasure trove of finds. In addition Nikki has curated a selection of items available to buy from local Artisans, all in keeping with the vintage vibe of course.”
The tea room closure comes weeks after nearby Clifton Green pub, the Old Grey Mare, shut its doors in July, and hasn’t opened them since.
The Press has tried to speak with the pub’s bosses to find out what has happened to the business.
It was taken over by the most recent tenants in 2020 and underwent a large refurbishment both inside and out.
