The Terriers’ forward scored his ninth goal of the campaign in the recent 2-1 victory at Leyton Orient
Huddersfield Town striker Bojan Radulovic is happy to have “turned around” his form this season following a tough start to his time at the club.
The Terriers’ forward scored his ninth goal of the campaign in the recent 2-1 victory at Leyton Orient, with the 26-year-old having found the net just twice previously for Town following his arrival in January 2024.
Radulovic was sent out on loan to Dutch side Fortuna Sittard for the second part of last term, but has since worked his way back into the fold during the course of this season.
Reflecting on his form this campaign, Radulovic said at a recent press conference: “As a striker, you always enjoy scoring goals, and especially for me, I didn’t have probably a great start here, and I really had bad times, so it wasn’t easy for me this season.
“I don’t know how, this season just turned around for me, and being able to be scoring goals, helping the team, playing well, being in a good shape, I think that’s what matters right now. I’m just looking forward to keep scoring more goals until the end of the season of course.
“I think I’ve proved wrong a couple of people that probably were not happy with my performances that I understand, because it wasn’t me last season. I wasn’t giving what I could give, or for different circumstances, I wasn’t in my best shape, I was low of confidence, so it wasn’t this Bojan from this season. I think people have to keep with the Bojan of this season, and I’m really glad that I’m proving myself.”
“I wasn’t enjoying playing football, I wasn’t at my best, I was low of confidence, it wasn’t my best season of course,” the striker added on last term.
“You lose faith in you, and you just think ‘probably England is not for me’. Then when I moved to the Netherlands and then came back this pre-season, I think something changed.
“I don’t know what probably, because I moved to the Netherlands and then came back again, but it was just different mentality, probably different staff as well, different way of playing football, I don’t know. Something just changed, and now I can say probably things are different, are better, and I’m really happy [with how] things are going now.”
Radulovic found goalscoring form between October and January to net eight times in 15 appearances, but went on to suffer a hamstring injury that kept him sidelined for just over two months of the campaign.
“It was really disappointing and sad,” the striker reflected on his spell out of the side.
“I felt angry, because that injury made me out for probably a few months, I knew that, and especially I was in a right position, in a good moment, scoring goals and the team was winning with the new staff as well, so the team was progressing in a good way, we were in a good shape, but that was a pity for me.
“That’s football, sometimes it happens. I wouldn’t wish that would happen to me in that time, because the timing was not the best, but it is what it is, we have to just handle it in the best way, and now we are back on it again.”
Radulovic returned for the Easter weekend clashes against Reading and Leyton Orient, and discussing being involved in the latter encounter, where he featured for the entirety of the contest, the forward said: “Probably first half, I was feeling a bit tired, because of course I’ve been out many weeks, but second half was much better. I felt kind of more energy, I could run, it was a different feeling.
“Probably because of the goal I scored, it gave me also that boost of confidence to face the second half. After so many weeks out, it’s positive minutes, 59 and 90, so looking forward to get more minutes.”
