Ariana Grande and Angelina Jolie’s Belted Wrap Coats Are So Chic

IMO, there’s nothing worse than an uncomfortably stiff winter coat; you should be able to layer without feeling like the Tin Man when you go to move. So while I’m not incredibly picky about my coat, I do have a few major boxes I want checked: It should be cozy, roomy, and, of course, timeless. And the one Ariana Grande just wore checked all of those boxes.

Grande was spotted with her Wicked costar Cynthia Erivo wearing the coat that’s at the top of my winter wishlist. Her top layer was kind of like a really chic bathrobe: It had comfortable spaciousness and a belted waist, but was elevated with that beautiful notched lapel and elegant black material. Basically, it was the perfect mix of cozy and chic.

A wrap coat has been a go-to for stars including Angelina Jolie and Nicole Kidman, and I imagine it has something to do with its ability to be both everyday and elegant—well, and that it’s really comfortable. Below, shop 10 styles inspired by the top layer celebrities keep reaching for.

Cicy Bell Belted Overcoat

You can grab an affordable version of this style at Amazon, where Cicy Bell’s belted coat is on sale for $70. There’s a lot to love about this style, from its elegant simplicity and its blanket-like feel, but what I love the most are those oversized lapels. They add a little drama to the otherwise simple, timeless look.

Gap Belted Double-Faced Wool Scarf Coat

Gap’s full-length coat is designed from a warm wool blend and has a slightly oversized fit for easy layering, two things I consider a must. But one I hadn’t thought of, but which Gap threw in, is a matching scarf. It’s a small addition, but it takes the chic-factor up a notch—it also makes getting dressed and out the door really easy.

Zara Belted Wool-Blend Coat

Zara’s belted coat looks nearly identical to Grande’s. It has the same notched lapel, roomy fit, and tied waist, and is available in her classic black, though you can also grab it in a soft stone. Like Gap’s, Zara’s coat is also made from a wool-blend, so you can expect some serious warmth from the style.

Uniqlo Down Belted Long Coat

Though slightly different from Grande’s style, Uniqlo’s take on the trend is great for anyone who needs something a little more heavy duty. The coat still has that robe-inspired look, but is down-filled, which shoppers say makes it “warm like a big…blanket.” Despite that puffiness though, fans report that this is super lightweight and stylish. It’s the “simple and sophisticated” version of winter’s go-to puffer.

My perfect winter coat is elegant and comfortable, which is why I’m shopping for a Grande-inspired wrap style. Below, shop more toppers inspired by her robe-like layer.
