Anne Hathaway, Sandra Oh Recreate ‘Princess Diaries’ Scene

With rumors that a third Princess Diaries movie might be in the works, fans of the Disney franchise have been waiting with bated breath for any and all details pertaining to its next installment. In the meantime, though, Anne Hathaway and Sandra Oh are more than happy to play into the hype by recreating one of the movie’s iconic scenes for Hathaway’s latest appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show.

In the new video, shared to the talk show’s official Instagram page on April 29, Oh appears from behind a desk wearing a butter yellow suit, working the phone. “Gupta? Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm,” she says into the receiver before hanging up and announcing, “The queen is coming.”

In The Princess Diaries, Oh was referring to Julie Andrews’ Clarisse Renaldi entering the room, but instead, the greeting was then for Hathaway, who then appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show set in a bright yellow suit, laughing at the into that Oh gave her. To play up the moment, the show naturally captioned the Instagram post, “The QUEEN is coming.”

Fans the moment, with one user writing, “Whose idea was this? I’m lighting candles in your honor for having the most brilliant promo ever.” Another user added, “As soon as I seen her [Oh] pick up the phone I knew it.” Commenters on Instagram gave their approval, claiming that Clarkson’s social media and marketing team deserves a raise.

Details of The Princess Diaries 3 are currently sparse, but Hathaway did provide a small update for fans last week. “We’re in a good place,” she said in her V Magazine interview. “That’s all I can say. There’s nothing to announce yet. But we’re in a good place.”
