A York theatre will be the only northern venue showing Robert Bolt’s play, A Man For All Seasons.
The Grand Opera House hosts the award-winning production, starring Martin Shaw and Gary Wilmot, from July 29 until August 2.
In the show focusing on influential English historical figures, Martin Shaw takes the role of Sir Thomas More, a man of integrity who defies King Henry VIII.

Josh Brown, venue director at the Grand Opera House, said: “We’re thrilled that the Grand Opera House has been selected as the only venue in the north of the UK to host this magnificent play.
“We’re confident it will be a hit with both visitors and locals alike, offering a fantastic opportunity for history enthusiasts and theatre lovers to experience a high-quality production about such fascinating and influential figures.”
Tickets, costing from £15, are available for the afternoon and evening performances.
The play will embark on a West End run after its stint in York.
