If you’ve never played a Final Fantasy game, October is a great time to start. Microsoft is bringing Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, the first game in the remake’s trilogy, to Xbox Game Pass on Oct. 29. That should give you plenty of time to play the game for the first — or fifth — time before Square Enix releases Final Fantasy 7 Remake Revelation, the finale to the trilogy, in 2027.
Xbox Game Pass, a CNET Editors’ Choice award pick, offers a wide selection of games you can play on your Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One and PC or mobile device for as little as $10 per month. With a higher-tier Game Pass Ultimate subscription ($23 per month), you can access hundreds of games, including new ones the day they’re released, each month.
The Seance of Blake Manor
Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass and Game Pass Premium subscribers can play on Oct. 27.
A woman has gone missing in this first-person detective game set in Ireland at the turn of the 20th century, and it’s up to you to find her. You play as a detective tasked with finding her, yet Blake Manor holds secrets, both occult and of this world. You’ll interrogate mystics, search for clues and navigate haunted corridors in your search. This game takes place around All Hallows’ Eve, making it perfect for this time of year.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade
Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass and Game Pass Premium subscribers can play on Oct. 29.
This remake of the award-winning Final Fantasy 7 retells part of the original game’s story, but this time it has updated visuals, faster gameplay and additional story elements. Whether you’re new to this classic roleplaying game or have played the original, there’s something new here for you.
You play as mercenary-turned-eco-terrorist Cloud Strife. Your goal is to stop the megacorporation Shinra from draining the planet of its energy source, and work toward that goal with a team of folks from all over the world. Like in other Final Fantasy games, each party member has their own skills to fit your play style, giving you different avenues to tackle a range of enemies and problems.
Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted
Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers can play on Oct. 29
This classic tower-defense game is back and in high definition! So you can see the cartoony plants and zombies in all their goofy glory. This version also includes new levels and challenges for both old and new players.
Other games Microsoft is bringing to Xbox Game Pass
Those are some of the games coming to Game Pass between now and early November. Microsoft is adding these other games to the service in that time frame, too.
- Sandustry (Game Preview) – Coming to Game Pass Premium on Oct. 21; previously on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.
- Dodo Duckie – Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium and PC Game Pass subscribers can play on Oct. 22.
- Scramble Knights Online (Game Preview) – Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers can play on Oct. 26.
- Terrible Lizards – Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers can play on Oct. 29.
- Pit of Goblin – Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium and PC Game Pass subscribers can play on Nov. 3.
Games Microsoft is removing from Xbox Game Pass soon
While Microsoft is adding those games to Xbox Game Pass, it’s also removing 11 titles soon. So you’d better hurry and finish your campaigns before you have to buy these games separately.
