Fans are speculating if Oasis will play Glastonbury 2027 after the Manchester band announced a series of new tour dates today.

There have long been rumours of the Gallaghers returning to road again in 2027, with reports emerging that they’d be playing shows in Manchester and Knebworth. Off the back the hype surrounding their new documentary Don’t Look Back In Anger about their reunion and the last run of shows, the band then started a teaser campaign with Easter eggs revealing the locations – before confirming that an announcement was coming with a drone show over the Etihad.

That announcement arrived today with news of 38 shows kicking off next May that will see the band calling at Scotland, England, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, France, Italy, the US and Ireland.

“START THE CELEBRATIONS!!!!,” the band shared in a statement. “After a period of reflection ‘The Most Damaging Pop Cultural Force In Recent British History’ has declared itself fit for purpose and will once again return to lift the spirits of the people,” they continued, once again mocking a damning article that was written about the last tour.

Oasis added: “Come witness the fitness. It shall be a sight to behold.”

Aside from the homecoming shows in Manchester, the Live ’27 tour be visiting new locations to the 2025 dates. They’ll be opening with five nights at Glasgow’s Celtic Park kicking off on May 21, before a mammoth 11 gigs at The Etihad and a trek across Europe with multiple night stops in Munich, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Rome, and Paris – the latter being the city where the band infamously split in 2009.

The tour will then conclude back on home turf with the band returning to the site of legendary ’90s gigs at Slane Castle and for four nights at Knebworth. The support act at all shows will once again be Richard Ashcroft, who previously joined them on their Live ’25 UK dates. You can see the full list of dates here.

The band will play Manchester on the week of Glastonbury in June, but the Sunday evening slot is free, leading to speculation the band could return to Worthy Farm for the first time since 2004.

Some on social media think this could be unlikely however, noting that on their last tour, “they didn’t play more than two nights back to back.” But while “unlikely”, it’s “not impossible” either, they wrote. You can see some of the speculation here:

Oasis basically ruled out. At no point on their last tour did they play more than two nights back to back.

Not impossible, but highly unlikely. #Glastonbury #Oasis pic.twitter.com/xNcSA4ak3t

Do I think they will be at Glasto?… No.

Do I still have the biggest hopes seeing that Sunday gap?… Hell yes!!!!!

Delusional forever! 😅 #Glastonbury #Oasis https://t.co/PIZ58VGEgB

I can’t help but notice Sunday 27th June is missing from Oasis’ tour dates…. #Oasis #Glastonbury

People actually thinking oasis will do Glastonbury. More chance of a Manchester United title charge.

Back in summer, Liam Gallagher seemed to veto plans to play Glastonbury in 2027 – and in the past has likened it to performing to “a load of jamboree teachers”.

In August, it emerged that the Britpop legends were the bookies favourites to headline the Worthy Farm festival at 4/1. Afterwards, Liam took to Twitter/X taking aim at the “croc wearing flag waving shit c*nts” convinced they’re on the bill next year, bluntly saying: “It’s not happening.”

Replying to a fan who asked him what he dreamed about, he doubled down, saying: “I had a dream we was playing Glastonbury and the croc brigade stormed the stage and started whipping me to death with their flags took me ages to get settled”.

As well as the footwear issue, the flags the festival is famous for seemed to be of great concern, and Liam went on to ask a fan: “Do they encourage CROCS n FLAGWAVING if so I’m afraid it’s NO from ME.”

The band have also vetoed rumours in the past about playing at the festival, like in 2025 when they released a statement saying: “Despite media speculation, Oasis will not be playing Glastonbury 2025 or any other festivals next year.”

The band first headlined Glastonbury in 1995 – just one year after their debut at Worthy Farm. In 2004, their second time headlining, the performance received lacklustre reviews from fans and critics alike.

In a press conference from 2008, Noel commented on Oasis’ history at the festival saying: “We said the last time we done Glastonbury, we’ve never really pulled it off at Glastonbury… I don’t think.

“I think the first year we played when we were on that second stage at two in the afternoon was the best… we always blow the big gigs… the first time we headlined it we played too many songs off ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory’ which hadn’t been released then. Looking back when you look at the setlist, it was colossal – but nobody had heard ‘Champagne Supernova’, ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ and all the songs that we played.”

“I think the last time [2004], we had scrapped an album that was supposed to come out that week of that festival so it was a bit of a damp squib… I’ve always said about Glastonbury, it’s great to be at but it’s not great for people like us to play at. You don’t go on to 11 o’clock at night, and all the people you’re with at five to 11 are absolutely battered.”

Liam has also spoken out about the band’s performance in 2004, saying it was “horrible”. Gallagher told BBC 6 Music’s Matt Everitt in 2019: “I’ve always enjoyed Glastonbury. There’s only one that I didn’t and that was when I wore a white jacket. I didn’t enjoy that because that was when I’d first started using in ears [monitors to hear the music] and it’s spun me out for 15 years. I’ve only finally took them out so I’m kind of getting back to normal. I hated that gig, man.”

In a five-star review of the opening night of the Live ’25 tour in Cardiff, NME hailed the show as “a supersonic reunion for a new generation. This is all you ever would have wanted from Oasis in 2025: they look cool, sound fucking amazing, and they want to be here,” the review read.

As for the new Don’t Look Back In Anger documentary, NME caught up with creator and writer Steven Knight about the “healing” reunion of the Gallagher brothers, as well as directors Will Lovelace and Dylan Southern about paying tribute to late Stone Roses icon Mani and celebrating the “genius” of Bonehead in the film.

In a four-and-a-half star review of the documentary, NME wrote that it was “masterfully done, with moments of irreverence and intense passion burning throughout.”

As for Glastonbury, earlier this month, organiser Emily Eavis ruled out another heavily rumoured headliner in Madonna, who had been strongly rumoured to be performing after the release of her new album ‘Confessions II‘.

Early bookies’ favourites for the Pyramid Stage next summer included the likes of Sam Fender, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Rihanna and Little Simz. Other rumoured names for topping the bill include Harry Styles, Radiohead, Fontaines D.C., Muse and The Rolling Stones.

More recent speculation has centred on The Stones, with Mick Jagger and Keith Richards both suggesting that the band could return to touring in 2027. They headlined Glastonbury for the only time in 2013.
