Huddersfield Town striker Bojan Radulovic says it “feels great being back helping the team” after netting in the opening-day win against AFC Wimbledon.
The forward struck 12 minutes from time to seal Town’s 3-0 victory at Accu Stadium on Saturday.
Radulovic was deployed as a second-half substitute in the win, with the attacker returning from an injury picked up in pre-season.
Reflecting on his strike, Radulovic told his club: “It feels amazing always when you score, and from the bench, after a while, after the injury, it feels great being back helping the team, and of course getting the three points in front of our fans in the first league match, so really happy for that.
“It’s always frustrating for a player to get injured, you always want to stay fit, be available for the team. Especially the second week of pre-season, and almost losing the whole pre-season, but it’s football, it might happen, so now I’m very happy to be back.
“Now it’s just working hard to stay fit, stay available, and when I get the chance take it, and I’m so, so happy to be back and get the win today.”
Radulovic turned home from close range after being picked out by Radinio Balker, with the centre-back having broken forward from defence, and the goalscorer added: “I wasn’t expecting what he did to be honest.
“I was even ten, 15 metres behind him, and when I saw him just go past the guy who was running to the ball, I was just like ‘I have to sprint’, because that’s my chance to score, and I just sprinted like if it was my last sprint of my life, and he saw me.
“We have a very good connection on and off the pitch, and I’m so happy that he gave me that assist. I think the goal is all on him, I just had to pass it to the goal, so I’m really thankful for that of course.
“We spoke about before the game if I score, we’re going to celebrate together doing the dart thing, and at the end there, that’s how it’s been, and I’m really happy that we could celebrate together.”
