The 22-year-old has made 20 appearances for the Terriers
Huddersfield Town midfielder Cameron Humphreys says he has “really enjoyed” playing regularly for the club during his loan spell.
The 22-year-old has made 20 appearances for the Terriers since joining on loan from Ipswich Town in January.
Humphreys featured four times for the Tractor Boys in the first half of the campaign, and reflecting on his time with the Terriers, the midfielder said at a recent press conference: “I’ve really enjoyed playing.
“I know there’s been a lot of change that’s happened around it, but again that’s football and that’s experiences that I’m getting used to the more I’m having a career in the game.
“I think I’ve shown some good stuff, there’s some stuff I definitely want to get better at, but the main thing is that I’ve enjoyed [getting] back playing regular football, and I want to keep pushing for the end of the season now.
“I think the aim was to come in and play regular games, but also the aim was to come in and help the team win, and try and push for the play-offs and do as well as we can collectively as a team.
“I think in terms of getting a good run of starts, it’s definitely a positive, and I feel like I am influencing the team, and can do that even more, but also one of my goals was to come and win as many games, and that doesn’t change.”
“From the minute I’ve been here, internally and inside the training ground under all the managers I’ve had, there’s been a positive energy,” Humphreys added.
“Everyone I’ve worked with, every member of staff at the club, whether they’re here now or have left, there’s always been that positivity internally, so I’ve always felt that. I think the more I’ve played, and the more I’ve grown into it personally, I think I’ve felt better and better as the season’s gone along, and that’s probably reflected in performances.”
The midfielder has scored twice for Town since his arrival, including netting an 89th-minute winner at Peterborough United in January.
“I think there’s been a few big late goals in games from not just myself, so I think we’ve had some good moments,” Humphreys said.
“I obviously want to score goals, and when I can get a bit higher up the pitch and get in those areas, I want to create and score, so I think I can do it more, but it’s nice to get a couple.”
Humphreys has started each of the five matches since Martin Drury and Jon Stead took interim charge, and discussing playing in the side under the duo, the 22-year-old said: “Enjoyable, I think even more so when the fans get behind it, and you can feel the energy of the crowd, that gives you more energy.
“As a player, I want to have the ball, but I want to be attacking with it, and I want to play forward with high energy, so I think that style has suited me.”
The Terriers host Mansfield Town next up at the Accu Stadium tomorrow, where they are unbeaten in the division since October, and Humphreys said on his side’s home form: “I think if we play as well as we can, and we execute our performances, I think we can beat anyone in the division.
“I think we know that whoever comes, we can give them a really good game.”
