Mary Jane Pumps Are One of 2025’s Trendiest Shoes

Shoes that have achieved “staple” status include white sneakers and black boots, but I’d argue that another needs to be inducted into that classic footwear hall of fame: Enter, Mary Janes. The cute-yet-classy style has been the “It” shoe for years now, and I don’t anticipate that changing anytime soon—hell, Naomi Watts just made me want to break them out in winter.

While chunky boots might be how most people take on snow day dressing, Watts opted for a pair of Mary Jane pumps, a.k.a. Sarah Jessica Parker’s go-to shoe. The pumps, which looked a lot like these from Loewe, featured a thick block heel and trending slingback detail, and I was immediately thinking of all the ways I could wear them. The shoes achieve a perfect “dressed-up” middle —they’re outfit-elevating without being overly sleek—making them perfect for everything from Watts’s tights and tweed dress to your favorite pair of wide-leg jeans.

Given their versatility, I could see myself reaching for this version of the Mary Jane over and over again, so I found eight styles similar to Watts’s. Shop my top picks for slingback Mary Janes below, starting at $40.

Sam & Libby Grace Pumps

To shop this trend for less, grab Sam & Libby’s Grace pumps, which are on sale starting at just $40 at Amazon. These have adjustable straps for a no-slip fit and a short block heel, two practical details that make these pumps actually wearable. And while black gets your Watts’s look, they’re also available in a trending burgundy color.

Charles by Charles David Nuri Slingback Mary Jane Platform Pumps

Charles by Charles David’s platform Mary Jane pumps are a must-have for anyone wanting a little drama. While they still have those cute Mary Jane details and are available in a classic black, that sky-high heel and platform bring excitement, and I’d argue a little sexiness, to the shoes.

Charles & Keith Pearl-Accent Mary Jane Pumps

These pearl-accent pumps are my personal favorite. I love the block heel and classic silhouette, as well as the faux patent leather and pearl buttons, which give the style a classy, expensive look. The fact that they’re less than $50 can be our little secret.

While Mary Jane pumps might not be a traditional winter shoe, Watts made me want to break them out anyway. Below, shop even of the versatile and outfit-elevating pumps.
