Spellman Care, which has care homes in Skipton, Guiseley, Steeton, and Silsden, has shared details of its 2024 achievements.
The Staff Wellbeing and Development Hub was launched in January, and expanded in June.
A ‘Wellbeing Wednesday’ for staff was launched in April.
Springbank Care Home, in Silsden, won the carehome.co.uk award for the second time in January.
Springbank also conducted ‘Schools Out For Summer’ play sessions in July, and launched the ‘Adopt a Grandfriend’ campaign.
Steeton Court Nursing Home was nominated in February for the Community Arts Award at the Yorkshire Choice Awards.
Steeton Court also held a vote and announced new Unit Names amid a refurbishment in June.
In March, Springbank welcomed Say Aphasia Skipton to the home for an aphasia awareness talk.
Spellman Care was named the ‘Best Luxury Nursing & Residential Care Home Enterprise’ in the GHP Social Care Awards 2024 in April.
The care home group also signed the Armed Forces Covenant in April.
In May, Ghyll Royd Care Home, in Guiseley, bid farewell to its longest-serving colleagues.
In 2024, Ghyll Royd became the first Spellman Care home to reduce its carbon footprint with solar panels, making a reduction of 21,637 kg of CO2 emissions annually.
(According to a spokesperson, the annual quantity of reduced CO2 emissions is equivalent to the weight of “eight and a bit” Spellman Care minibuses.)
In July, the homes opened their doors for Care Home Open Week.
August brought news of Spellman Care being shortlisted for the Keighley and Airedale Business Awards.
September saw the group go on to win the Independent/Family Business of the Year award at the Keighley and Airedale Business Awards.
Also in September, the Springbank laundry team reached the finals of the Love Laundry Awards.
In October, the care home group achieved the Veteran Friendly Framework Accreditation.
The first joint session with ‘Exclusively Inclusive’ also took place in October.
November saw Spellman Care managers reach the ‘WAGS’ award finals for the third consecutive year.
Finally, in December, the care home group concluded the year with its annual Christmas Present Appeal and the return of its Christmas Video.
